Early Life
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Before I turned one, my family and I moved to London, UK. Growing up there, I had the chance to live in a multicultural environment and speak two different languages daily.
This is the story of my career path and how I became the person I am today. From growing up in a multicultural environment to transitioning into green energy, my journey has been one of passion, growth, and innovation. Join me as I share the experiences and milestones that have shaped my life.
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Before I turned one, my family and I moved to London, UK. Growing up there, I had the chance to live in a multicultural environment and speak two different languages daily.
After returning to Venezuela, I attended school and later studied Geological Engineering at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). My career began in the oil and gas industry, where I gained valuable experience. During these years I developed the passion for drawing, which was, and still is, an important part of my life.
My curiosity and determination to study climate change and global warming led me to pursue studies, research, and work in past shallow-water marine systems at the University of Potsdam in Germany. There, I successfully earned the academic title of Dr. rer. nat. (Doktor der Wissenschaften). During these years I worked as a Field Geologist, and nature, gave me the opportunity to keep drawing many faces of life.
During this phase of my life, I realized that a puzzle piece was missing: The knowledge about climate change mitigation and adaptation processes and strategies.
I had the chance to work on an EU Commission project for the development of earth-based sustainable materials, worked at the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam – GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences for developing a successful hypothesis about the generation of greenhouse gases and feedback that amplified climate warming forcings, and joined TU Berlin
where I earned an MBA in Energy Management and had the chance to study and work on Energy Storage.
“Changed to Keep Changing”
This is my motto here.
Over the last 30 years, I have excelled in the energy business, transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
Now, Science to Inspire allows me to share gratitude and my experience. I have been fortunate: I am immensely grateful to have a supportive family! I cherish my friends, who are part of my extended family, and I am thankful to all outstanding and capable students and colleagues, who I met during many work/life experiences. Thanks!
One thing that I am certain of is that we are not exempt of change. What unite us: curiosity. Science is curiosity. And we can be transformative.
